As a dedicated mobile RPG enthusiast who’s been navigating the digital battlefields since the dawn of smartphones, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia as Square Enix announces the closure of Romancing SaGa Re;Universe on December 1st. This isn’t just another game closing its doors, it’s a chapter in my own mobile gaming journey coming to an end.
Square Enix has declared that they will be closing down the global version of the free mobile RPG game, Romancing SaGa Re;Universe, effective December 1. This marks more than four years since its initial release on iOS and Android platforms. It’s important to note that this decision does not affect the Japanese client of the game. The shutdown of Romancing SaGa Re;Universe is one of several free-to-play global games operated by Square Enix, following the announcements of the ending of services for Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

Similar to other closures of free-to-play mobile games, sales for in-game items using real money have been halted prior to the service ceasing on December 1 at 17:00 PST.
