To tackle scalping issues and cater to loyal customers, Sony will limit pre-orders exclusively to individuals who can demonstrate prior ownership of a PlayStation system and have clocked at least 30 hours of gameplay within the past decade.
If you have logged into a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 console between February 22, 2014, and September 19, 2024, you are eligible. Currently, pre-orders are available for the console on the Japanese PlayStation store. To purchase one, you just need to have a PlayStation Network account linked to a Sony account that is registered in Japan.
You can place your console pre-order until October 14th, the last day. If the number of pre-orders exceeds the available consoles, a lottery system will be used to select the next group of buyers. The bundle costs 168,980 yen, which is approximately $1,177 in U.S. dollars.
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the PS5 Pro Limited Edition sports a design reminiscent of the original PlayStation console. This special edition comes packaged with a DualSense Edge controller in a matching gray hue, a regular DualSense controller, and a DualSense Charging Station. The package will also contain a cover for the disc drive (sold separately), a vertical stand, a collectible poster featuring one of 30 unique designs, an “original PlayStation-style cable connector casing”, four PlayStation Shapes cable ties, a sticker, and even a paperclip!
