After its initial cinema screening, the feature documentary “Jung Kook: I Am Still” – which details Jung Kook’s solo journey as a member of K-pop legends BTS – is set for a wider release. The expanded version of the film will be available in cinemas starting from October 11.
“Jung Kook: I Am Still – The Party Edition”: This special edition encompasses the full documentary, along with an extra 20 minutes of interactive music videos for a sing-along experience. Hybe Corp. and Trafalgar Releasing, the producers and distributors respectively, refer to this addition as “elevating the cinema event into a grand fan celebration.
The special edition of Jung Kook’s documentary titled ‘Jung Kook: I Am Still – The Party Edition’ will be screened in select cinemas throughout the U.S, Mexico, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, and Hong Kong starting this Friday. Online ticket sales are now available. This film is distributed internationally by Trafalgar except for Korea and Japan.
Distribution of this content in South Korea is handled by CJ CGV, while in Japan, it’s managed by Avex. As for the specifics regarding the release of the expanded edition in both countries, those details are still under discussion.
Under the guidance of director Junsoo Park, the movie explores the eight-month span after BTS member Jung Kook’s groundbreaking solo debut with the platinum-hit single “Seven (featuring Latto)” in July 2023. This film provides a personal glimpse into Jung Kook’s artistic journey, his dedication, and the distinctive hurdles encountered by a renowned global pop star.
The latest edition of this movie was shown in approximately 4,100 cinemas across around 120 countries and territories. During its debut weekend in North America, it ranked ninth at the box office and has amassed a total revenue of $3.12 million so far. According to Trafalgar, the film took the top spot in Brazil, came in second in Mexico and Chile, third in Argentina, Colombia, and Peru during its opening weekend. It also made it into the top ten in Germany, Italy, and Malaysia. In South Korea, it has earned $730,000 since its release on September 18.
Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, commented that the success we’ve seen is a clear demonstration of Jung Kook’s artistic talent and commitment. It also highlights the impact that collective cinema experiences can have on fans.
