New Nosferatu Trailer Casts Shadow Of Death Over The Holiday Season

As a seasoned gamer and horror aficionado with a penchant for the macabre, I must say that Robert Eggers’ remake of Nosferatu has me utterly captivated! With my fingers crossed and anticipation brewing like a cauldron full of potion, I can’t help but feel a chill down my spine as I eagerly await the chilling portrayal of Count Orlock by Bill Skarsgard.

Robert Eggers’ reimagining of Nosferatu aims to elevate F. W. Murnau’s original gothic story of obsession and thirst for blood to unprecedented heights. Anticipation among fans has been high regarding Bill Skarsgard’s portrayal of the malevolent Count Orlock, and while we haven’t seen it yet, the second trailer offers a clearer glimpse into the atmosphere that Eggers is trying to create.

Among several modern adaptations, this one is based on a previous unauthorized interpretation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. It’s intriguing to note that an authorized version wouldn’t appear in cinemas until nine years later, specifically Universal’s Dracula in 1931. However, the movie adaptation did take some creative liberties from the original novel. Here’s a trailer for your viewing pleasure.

Instead of directly showing Orlock, the trailer focuses on his distinctive silhouette, characterized by its sharp features and elongated claws. Reminiscent of Robert Eggers’ now-iconic 2015 film The Witch, this trailer seems to mark a new step in Orlock’s return to the screen, a process that began around the same time. It’s worth noting that both The Witch and Nosferatu share Louise Ford as their editor, reflecting a shared editing style.

Actor Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe, along with regular collaborators of director Robert Eggers, Ralph Ineson and Simon McBurney, will be teaming up with Skarsgard.

Nosferatu sinks into theaters on Christmas Day.
