Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano Spy on Their Own Open House — and Then Things Get Dangerous in First Trailer for Netflix Series ‘No Good Deed’

“As a connoisseur of dark comedies and a seasoned observer of human nature, I can’t help but be intrigued by the upcoming Netflix series, ‘No Good Deed.’ The cast alone is a testament to the rich tapestry of talent that Hollywood has to offer. Lisa Kudrow, Ray Romano, Linda Cardellini, Luke Wilson – just to name a few! And when you add Liz Feldman, the genius behind ‘Dead to Me,’ as creator, director, and executive producer, it’s clear we’re in for a rollercoaster ride.

Netflix has officially set the launch date for their upcoming dark comedy titled “No Good Deed,” featuring Lisa Kudrow. The first sneak peek of the show is now available. This eight-episode series, created by Liz Feldman, who brought us “Dead to Me,” will make its debut on December 12th.

In the show’s plot summary, we find that Lydia (Lisa Kudrow) and Paul (Ray Romano) are ready to leave their empty nest and start a new chapter in life. They put up their stunning 1920s Spanish-style villa, situated in one of Los Angeles’ most sought-after neighborhoods, for sale. This triggers a real estate madness among numerous families, all eager to purchase what they believe is their ideal home – a place that promises to solve all their diverse issues. However, Lydia and Paul understand that the house of dreams can often turn into a living nightmare. As they work hard to conceal the sinister secrets lurking within their long-held residence, they come to terms with the fact that the only way to break free from the past is to confront it head-on.

The promotion begins at an open house hosted by “Raleigh Real Estate,” showcasing a lavish Los Angeles property estimated to be worth $3 million or higher. Entering the scene is Linda Cardellini’s character, previously deceased in our story, while Luke Wilson’s character signs in as ‘John Smith.’ He’s donning sunglasses and a cap.

Beyond Abbi Jacobson and Poppy Liu, other actors explore the property, their mouths wide in awe at the house’s traditional charm. (The listing price could reach over $3 million, but considering its proximity to a meat packing plant in Vernon, it might be less. However, since the storyline specifies “one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Los Angeles,” and given the home’s historical significance, it appears to be Hancock Park.)

In the trailer, Denis Leary is observed peering at a concealed camera. It’s later revealed that homeowners Lydia and Paul are secretly monitoring their open house through an iPhone application. As they covertly watch the feed from one of the bedrooms, someone unexpectedly attempts to open the door, causing them alarm. The trailer then swiftly transitions into a series of intense clips, each depicting increasingly chaotic scenes: Quick flashes of hands getting too close to table saws, people handling guns, and what appears to be a lifeless body.

Liu’s character remarks to Jacobson’s character that it’s a bit more dim than anticipated,” suggests a possible paraphrase, implying that Liu’s character is commenting on both the house and the overall tone of the show.

The series consists of eight episodes, each lasting half an hour. The creator of the series, Feldman, takes on the roles of showrunner, director, and executive producer. Silver Tree is another executive producer and director, while Christie Smith, Jessica Elbaum, and Will Ferrell through Gloria Sanchez Productions are also involved as executive producers.

Besides Kudrow, Romano, Cardellini, Wilson, Leary, Jacobson, and Liu, the cast also features O-T Fagbenle and Teyonah Parris. Notable guest stars include Matt Rogers, Kate Moennig, Chloe East, Rory Scovel, Wyatt Aubrey, Kevin Alves, and Linda Lavin. For the show’s writing team, we have Feldman, Madie Dhaliwal, and Cara DiPaolo, Crystal Jenkins, Kelly Hutchinson, Cara DiPaolo (again), Bruce Eric Kaplan, Zora Bikangaga, and Kelly Hutchinson (again).
