Wendy’s customers have been waiting in long lines to purchase a special, limited-time Minions meal. One location even created a fun, themed experience for customers at the drive-thru.
Fast food chains have often partnered with celebrities and popular TV shows, but sometimes these collaborations don’t go smoothly and create unexpected problems.
We’ve seen this happen before with McDonald’s promotions. When they partnered with Pokemon, the collectible cards became incredibly valuable, reselling for as much as $800. A similar situation occurred when they briefly brought back Szechuan Sauce after a request on the show Rick and Morty – some customers even caused disruptions and argued with employees to get their hands on it.
Wendy’s is joining the fun with a new meal inspired by the new Minions & Monsters movie. One California restaurant even created a special drive-thru experience for fans, which caused significant delays due to long lines.
Wendy’s Minions & Monster meal sparks lengthy wait times
TikTok creator ThemeParkMom shared that the special drive-thru event began on June 11th. Even though she arrived early at 9 a.m. with her children, they still waited four hours for their turn to experience it.
After finishing their meal, guests were surprised with service from a Minion character and received a special, limited-edition souvenir.
ThemeParkMom checked the line again after her ride and was surprised to see the wait had jumped to seven hours.
Many devoted fans patiently waited in a long line, but others expressed their gratitude on social media to those who had managed to save them the trouble of waiting.
One person thanked them for their dedication, acknowledging the lengths parents go to for their children. Another commenter was impressed, but also amazed by the four-hour commitment, praising their incredible patience.
I’m so excited about Wendy’s new menu items! They launched on June 15th and are only around for a limited time – until the new Despicable Me movie comes out in July. I’ve already tried the Banana Frosty Swirl, which is amazing, along with the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. And you guys HAVE to check out the Pineapple Minion MischieFizz and Goomi’s Glimey Lime drinks; they’re perfect for summer!
