In 2026, a popular and much-loved show will conclude its run on Netflix, marking the end of a significant chapter for the streaming service.
Like all good shows, some popular Netflix series have finished, and that trend will continue in 2026. The TV series Heartstopper, originally based on Alice Oseman’s books, will have a fourth season, but it will also serve as a final farewell to the show.
The highly anticipated movie, Heartstopper Forever, will conclude the beloved series. Netflix has just released the first trailer, which you can watch below.
Following season 3 (released in October 2024), Heartstopper Forever continues the story of Nick and Charlie. Netflix describes this final installment as exploring the difficulties Nick and Charlie face as they navigate a long-distance relationship, with Nick preparing for university and Charlie becoming more independent. Their relationship is tested like never before by doubts and challenges. At the same time, their friends deal with the complexities of love, friendship, and growing up, asking the question: can first loves truly last?
The new trailer reveals fan favorites Joe Locke and Kit Connor facing fresh obstacles. Nick is preparing for life after high school, while Charlie struggles with the thought of a long-distance relationship.
After the conclusion of Heartstopper season 3, Forever features the return of the original cast, including William Gao as Tao Xu, Yasmin Finney as Elle Argent, and Tobie Donovan as Isaac Henderson. Corinna Brown (Tara Jones), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy Olsson), Rhea Norwood (Imogen Heaney), and Leila Khan (Sahar Zahid) will also be back.
The newly released footage from Heartstopper Forever shows that Nima Taleghani and Fisayo Akinade will return as teachers Mr. Farouk and Mr. Ajayi, continuing their relationship that started in season two. While Nick’s mother will reappear, Olivia Colman has been replaced by Anna Maxwell Martin due to scheduling conflicts.
The upcoming conclusion of Heartstopper is both exciting and sad. The show has become incredibly important for LGBTQ+ representation and discussions about identity and mental health. Fans will need to watch the final season on Netflix to find out if Nick and Charlie, along with the other couples we’ve grown to love, get the happy endings they deserve.
Heartstopper Forever will be released on Netflix on July 17.
