As a long-time Sims enthusiast who has spent countless hours crafting virtual lives and building dream homes, I must admit that my initial reaction to the leaked screenshots of The Sims Project Rene is one of disappointment.
Leaked screenshots from the small-scale playtest of The Sims Project Rene have been met with mixed reactions among fans, as they appear to have garnered less enthusiasm than expected.
Prior to Electronic Arts (EA) clarifying that Project Rene is not The Sims 5 and revealing its multiplayer aspect, numerous rumors about the game had been shared within the community, offering players a glimpse into what the project might entail – such as the leaked map being one example.
Recently, fresh glimpses of Electronic Arts’ current project have emerged, offering a peek into various aspects of the game, including user interface, characters, costumes, game mechanics, and more.
Based on information from the source who released these pictures, it appears they conducted a preliminary trial for the game involving a limited number of players. This test included an initial version of their “Live Mode” feature.
🚨 REVEALED SHOTS 🚨
The latest images of The Sims: Project Rene have been unveiled, and unlike before, this isn’t ‘5’, it’s The Sims: Project Rene designed for mobile devices.

From the get-go, what immediately catches my eye is undeniably the visuals. The leaker mentioned they appeared a bit grainy, and I must admit, it’s true – there’s a certain authenticity to them that I find quite intriguing.
In essence, they emphasized that optimization, which typically comes at the end of game development, was their priority over achieving high visual precision.
It seems that within these pictures, Sim characters seem to come with pre-set tasks and can accomplish a “Task List” to receive rewards. This list showcases different chores, for instance, interacting with new individuals, purchasing clothing items, and so forth.
From a cosmetic perspective, it appears that the costumes can be acquired using the game’s internal currency, since each one comes with a visible price, as evidenced in the provided images.
The leaker explained that this playtest was “focused solely on a very small portion of the whole game” as there were some missing features. While that’s the case, following this reveal, players have already voiced their frustrations, as seen in a Reddit thread.
One user compared it with The Sims Mobile, claiming it’s the “same just with less features.” They added: “You can work in a coffee shop and buy new outfits. It seems it’ll be pretty much exactly the same set-up, just maybe a bit different.”
In simpler terms, one user commented, “Although it’s only just begun, it seems like this will turn out to be a disaster. It looks and feels terrible, much like the Sims mobile game.
“I love The Sims, but what the f*** is this abomination?” commented one user.
Since these are unconfirmed sources, consider the details with some skepticism at this point. However, if you’re interested in participating in Project Rene, you have the opportunity to join by registering for the Playtest.
