As a seasoned gamer and avid fan of Stranger Things since its inception, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and nostalgia when I hear about Frank Darabont joining the crew for Season 5. With his extensive experience directing iconic series like The Walking Dead and Mob City, it’s no wonder that the Duffer Brothers tapped him to contribute to the final chapter of this beloved show.
Among the fresh talents we won’t encounter in Stranger Things Season 5 is an Academy Award-nominated director, who temporarily returned from retirement to direct several episodes of the series.
The filming for the fifth and concluding part of the Netflix original series “Stranger Things” is currently halfway completed, which means that viewers will soon be rejoining their beloved characters such as Max and Eleven once again.
Meanwhile, secretive information about the production is gradually leaking out, such as details on how they persuaded Oscar-nominated director Frank Darabont to return from retirement.
During an interview with The Daily Beast to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his famous film “The Shawshank Redemption,” Darabont shared why he chose Netflix over directing after retiring, stating, “It was primarily because my wife and I deeply admire this series. Our current content often portrays selfish and unsavory characters, but ‘Stranger Things’ is so full of warmth.
He went on to say, “I found that positive attitude quite appealing. I didn’t miss the business part of it, but I did miss working alongside creative individuals… There’s a chance this might be a one-time thing, but there’s still some time left.
For the first time since producing, scripting, and directing the TNT neo-noir crime series “Mob City” in 2013, Darabont will once again step into a TV director’s role.
Besides his work on “The Walking Dead’s” inaugural season, Frank Darabont has contributed to other well-known television shows like the sixth season of “The Shield” and the premiere episode of “Raines.
As a fan, I can’t wait to see which episodes the brilliant minds behind Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, will shape with their creative vision this season. Historically, they’ve been in charge of penning and directing the opening and closing episodes for each season, so let’s hope that trend continues!
While we don’t yet know when Stranger Things Season 5 will be released, keep yourself entertained by exploring other exciting Netflix series! For instance, look forward to Wednesday Season 2 and Virgin River Season 6. Additionally, don’t forget to check out all the TV shows that are streaming this month as well!
