My Hero Academia and Erased singer dies at age 28

As a gamer with a deep-rooted love for anime and its soundtracks, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of loss upon hearing about the demise of the enchanting voice behind some of my favorite opening and ending themes – Sayuri. Her melodies have been an integral part of my daily playlist, adding a touch of nostalgia and joy to countless hours spent immersed in the vibrant worlds of My Hero Academia, Erased, Edens Zero, and Lycoris Recoil.

Sayuri, the popular Japanese pop artist known for numerous memorable theme tunes, passed away at the age of 28.

Despite being relatively new, Sayuri made significant contributions to several notable anime during her impressive early career. Fans of My Hero Academia might recall her work in Season 4, as she was responsible for ‘About a Voyage’ featured in the end credits.

Apart from her work in My Hero Academia, she also excelled in other shows such as singing ‘Sekai no Himitsu’ for Edens Zero’s first season, and ‘Tower of Flower’ for Lycoris Recoil. One of her standout performances, however, was ‘Sore wa Chiisana Hikari no Youna’ on the mystery anime series Erased, which showcased her talent beyond compare.

Back in 2024, I sadly shared the news on my official X/Twitter account that I’d been battling functional dysphonia and an undisclosed chronic health issue. After a long struggle, I passed away on September 20th of that year.

Supporters have shared heartfelt homages for the talented singer, who contributed to the success of popular series through her music. As one Reddit user puts it, “Erased ED is among my favorite Japanese tracks. It’s always on repeat in my playlist.” “She was truly special, rest in peace,” they add.

1st person: “Heikousen is one of my go-to ending songs, and it’s going to resonate even more now. It’s already touched me quite deeply.

In 2012, Sayuri’s victory at a national singing competition granted her an early departure from school, allowing her to embark on a professional singing career. Since then, she has launched two albums featuring her original compositions – the first in 2015 and the second in 2022. Along with these, she has released numerous singles and music videos, as well as a remix album.

In March 2024, they made public their marriage, and it was disclosed in July 2024 that Sayuri would be temporarily stepping away from her singing career due to health concerns.
