As a gamer who grew up in the golden age of Spielberg’s cinematic masterpieces, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of kinship with the man himself, now revealed to be an ardent gamer at heart. His passion for gaming, particularly shooters, is not only endearing but also reminiscent of my own childhood, spent huddled around the family computer, keyboard and mouse in hand, lost in digital worlds.
During the ’70s and ’80s, Steven Spielberg revolutionized the realm of blockbuster films with movies like Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and others. However, his son Max Spielberg claims that beneath this legendary filmmaker’s exterior lies a heart that remains deeply entrenched in the world of gaming, constantly enjoying computer games.
Max Spielberg, the creative head and co-founder of FuzzyBot game studio, shared with MinnMax that it was his dad who sparked his interest in video games. Notably, the senior Spielberg is a big fan of shooting games.
Max Spielberg mentioned, “He enjoys gaming, it was him who introduced me to this hobby.” He’s an avid PC gamer, so our shared interest in games is one of the things that connect us. He often asks me about the latest shooter games, requesting a list of top picks so he can download and play them with me when I visit his home.
As a gamer, I find it endearing that Steven Spielberg prefers to play games at home with his son instead of online. However, his grandson Max has admitted that it’s been tough getting him to try out console games because he’s so accustomed to using a keyboard and mouse for play.
Max Spielberg mentioned, “He loves story-based games, and I often encourage him to try Uncharted. I think, given that it’s similar to Indiana Jones, he would enjoy it. But he always replies that he prefers using keyboards and mice instead of controllers.
As a gamer, I’m super excited about Bethesda’s upcoming title, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle! It could be a dream come true for Steven Spielberg, who co-created this iconic character with George Lucas, to finally step into the boots of Indy himself. The game is set to launch on PC and Xbox Series X|S on December 9, with PlayStation 5 users getting their hands on it next year.
