Asus is releasing a limited-edition ROG Xbox Ally X to mark 20 years of its Republic of Gamers line. This new version features an OLED screen for the first time, improved controls, and comes with a pair of AR glasses.
The limited-edition ROG Xbox Ally X20 is a special handheld with a see-through black design and gold details inside, inspired by retro gaming consoles. This anniversary version also boasts improved specs for a better screen, faster performance, and easier portability.
The biggest upgrade is a stunning new 7.4-inch Nebula HDR OLED screen. It boasts a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, FreeSync Premium Pro and Dolby Vision support, and can get incredibly bright – up to 1,400 nits. Plus, it’s still easy to use on the go thanks to features like anti-reflective Corning DXC glass.

Asus explained that the new OLED screen needed a revamped cooling system. This system improves airflow to the AMD processor and prevents the screen from overheating.
This handheld device runs on a powerful AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, and includes 24GB of fast LPDDR5X memory and 1TB of speedy PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage – the same components as the original ROG Ally X.

I’m really excited about the new ROG Xbox Ally X20! One of the coolest features is the new D-pad – you can actually switch it between a normal four-way setup and one that’s better for fighting games with eight directions. Plus, they’ve redesigned the buttons to be flush with the device, which sounds great, and added a rubberized grip on the back to make it even more comfortable to hold during long gaming sessions.
Asus has upgraded the hardware with new TMR joystick technology, promising more accurate control, smoother movement, and a longer-lasting joystick that won’t suffer from drift issues.
The special anniversary package also comes with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 gaming glasses. These glasses project a virtual screen that feels like a massive 171-inch display viewed from about 13 feet away. They offer incredibly smooth motion with a 240Hz refresh rate, use high-quality micro-OLED technology, and accurately track your head movements in three dimensions.
