Lego Pokemon Smart Play sets leave fans confused over “ugly” Pikachu & Jigglypuff designs

Okay, so some leaks just dropped about eight new Pokémon LEGO sets, and honestly? Some of them are… weird. Like, seriously strange designs. I’m not sure what LEGO was thinking with a few of these, but they’re definitely getting talked about!

If you’re a Pokémon fan and love building with LEGOs, there are lots of great sets to choose from – you can create everything from cute Eevee figures to Pikachu, or even the fully evolved forms of the original three starter Pokémon!

Eight more Lego sets are on the way, and they’re heavily featuring Smart Play – a new system that adds lights, sounds, motion, and interactive responses to building experiences.

These sets will feature popular Pokémon like Geodude, Charizard, Cubone, and Gengar, but some of the included cards are particularly spooky and might give you a fright.

Some Pokémon fans were excited to see new sets featuring their favorite characters, but others weren’t happy with how those characters looked.

One person jokingly asked online why anyone thought it was a good idea to give Pikachu a glowing stomach, referencing the clearly visible electronic component inside.

People expressed strong dislike for the sets, with comments including, “These look awful,” and criticisms focusing on the design and perceived inflated pricing, with one commenter calling them “Ugly and poorly designed.”

Everyone has their own idea of what looks good, and a lot of people are enjoying how Lapras, Cubone, and Mewtwo are depicted. However, once you see the strange house built around Pikachu – I’m calling it the ‘Pikatree’ – it’s hard to focus on anything else, and it’s likely to give you nightmares.
