Having played through both games multiple times, I know all too well that Joel’s fate is not a happy one. But as a seasoned survivor of the post-apocalyptic world myself (okay, just in my gaming life), I am ready to face whatever heartache this new season may bring.
I’ve just caught the debut trailer for The Last of Us Season 2, and it seems like the fan community is anticipating a grim, hard-hitting conclusion.
There is a huge spoiler we need to talk about. It’s a massive thing that happens in the second game, Part II, and it’ll definitely be included in The Last of Us Season 2, one way or another.

In the next chapter, Abby, the girl whose father was shot by Joel at the hospital’s end in the initial game, brutally slays him using a golf club. This violent act takes place in full view of Ellie, sparking her desire for vengeance as she chases after Abby.
The initial trailer for Season 2 suggests another accurate portrayal of the game, also offering a first genuine glimpse into Kaitlyn Dever’s character Abby in live action. Despite the emphasis on Joel’s guilt and his bond with Ellie (a quick scene shows her playing the guitar with him), it seems wise to anticipate that the producers might shuffle the storyline a bit.
To put it simply, viewers believe the story might culminate with Joel’s demise, which adds depth to Ellie’s scenes in future episodes and paves the way for Season 3. For instance, when we see Ellie playing the guitar before Dina, hinting at their journey to Seattle, one can wonder if we won’t discover why Ellie is chasing Abby until the season finale.

And in the thrilling season 2 finale, I can just imagine myself letting loose on a dance floor, clubbing it up!
