Gojo’s return in Jujutsu Kaisen finale leaves fans heartbroken

As a devoted fan of Jujutsu Kaisen who has followed this manga since its inception, I can’t help but feel a profound mix of emotions upon reading the finale. The return of Gojo, though not in the way we all anticipated, was still a poignant and heart-wrenching moment that left me with tears in my eyes.

In the closing act of Jujutsu Kaisen, following numerous rumors and anticipation, Gojo astonishingly reappears, taking everyone by surprise in a manner so tragic it left hearts aching.

As a die-hard fan of Jujutsu Kaisen, I can’t express enough the anticipation we’ve been feeling since Gojo took his final bow in Chapter 236. Over the past few chapters, our minds have been buzzing with theories about how this seemingly unbeatable character might find a way to rise from the dead.

Nevertheless, numerous theories and subtle indications seem to hold no water. Gojo does show up in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271, but it’s not a revival; instead, it’s merely Yuji’s recollection, during which he confides his deepest thoughts to his disciple.

Although his return isn’t what fans had hoped for, it’s heartbreakingly poignant. In a past memory, Gojo confides in Yuji that he too holds love and aspirations like any other person, expressing a desire for people not to forget him. Yet, he acknowledges that eventually, everyone will depart from him.

When Yuji asserts that he’ll always remember Gojo, the late sorcerer replies that it’s temporary and eventually, even Yuji might not recall him vividly anymore. However, the bearer of Six Eyes motivates Yuji to progress, expressing optimism about his student’s future.

In the climax of Jujutsu Kaisen, this particular scene is so moving it could reduce readers to tears. It offers a poignant farewell to a cherished character while simultaneously revealing his self-image. Throughout the series, Gojo has often felt isolated (with the exception of his time with Geto), and his dialogue with Yuji underscores this sad truth yet again in a heartrending manner.

I can’t hide my disappointment as a gamer, seeing Gojo’s appearance in Chapter 271. It’s because many of us were eagerly anticipating a twist where he’d turn out to be alive, just like some other characters who were thought to be dead such as Nobara and Higuruma.

In the final chapter, the author casually brought up Gojo as if he hadn’t been considered for a long time, and then had him utter something extremely heartbreaking – it seems, much like the author Gege, they have a knack for creating stories that are painfully relatable to us readers.

It’s utterly devious how Gege included Gojo in the last chapter, aiming to sadden his fans one more time.

A third person commented, “It seems Gojo was just a tool for others in the end, doesn’t it? His demise didn’t seem to matter to anyone. Everyone should perish.

Despite being seldom referenced by other characters following the Shinjuku Showdown, Gojo continues to hold a special place as the most cherished character within Jujutsu Kaisen for many fans.
