Woman gets year’s worth of free Wendy’s burgers after winning lookalike contest

An Ohio woman won a Wendy’s lookalike contest and the prize is a year of free burgers.

Twenty people participated in a lookalike contest at New York City’s Seaport Square, all hoping to be named the person who most resembles Wendy’s iconic mascot.

The competition took place between celebrations of World Redhead Day and National Burger Day. Contestants faced off in several rounds, and the judging panel included Wendy Thomas, daughter of Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas – the person the restaurant is named after and whose likeness inspired the logo.

So, during the competition, people came out on stage dressed up like the mascot! It was awesome seeing everyone’s take on the look – they all had the freckles, bright red hair, and were rocking these cute blue sundresses. There were guys and girls competing, and honestly, it was really fun to see how creative everyone got over the three rounds.

Next, the contestants took turns reading social media posts, aiming to match the fun, lively tone Wendy’s uses online. Finally, the remaining finalists created and performed their own original Wendy’s commercials.

Jennifer, from Ohio, won a year’s supply of Dave’s Single burgers and received a large cheque to celebrate!

Jennifer explained how much she enjoyed winning the competition, especially because redheads weren’t often appreciated in the past. She sees winning the prize on World Redhead Day as a way to celebrate what makes her unique.

So, Wendy’s had this lookalike contest, and they basically said it was all about celebrating what makes redheads – and Wendy’s itself – so memorable and awesome. They wanted a fun, live event to show off the personality and spirit of both!
