Police are looking into an incident where an Amazon delivery driver was filmed seemingly taking a family’s cat from their property.
Brenda Wilson shared Ring camera footage with PEOPLE showing a delivery driver leaving a package at her Bakersfield, California home, then seemingly taking her cat, Junie, with them.
Wilson told KGET she was completely stunned when she saw the footage, and couldn’t believe someone would be so bold as to take her animal.
The family has had Junie since 2022 and has photos – including pictures of her with her kittens – to prove she’s theirs. Wilson explained that Junie always finds her way home and asked whoever took her to please return her.
“They could simply leave her at the driveway,” Wilson explained. “She knows the routine. She’ll head directly to the garage, go inside, and take care of things.”
Cat owner files police report after delivery driver takes cat
After Junie went missing, Wilson reported it to the police. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating the case, which they are treating as a possible cat theft.
Amazon stated that the driver wasn’t an Amazon employee, but instead worked for one of its delivery partners.
According to an Amazon representative, the driver is employed by a small, independent delivery company contracted by Amazon to deliver packages. Amazon is currently investigating the situation and cooperating with law enforcement.
This is not the first time an Amazon delivery driver has been accused of taking a customer’s cat.
A California family reported their cat, Piper, was stolen from their property in December 2025 by someone making a delivery for Amazon. Amazon confirmed the delivery driver involved was no longer permitted to work for them.
So, just a few weeks after that van cam incident, something else crazy happened. Apparently, another Amazon driver in the UK was caught on camera actually taking a family’s cat, Nora, after dropping off a package! Can you believe it? They literally walked off with the poor thing.
