LEGO reveals Pokemon TCG finalists fans can vote into a real set

LEGO and Pokémon have announced the top five designs in their LEGO Ideas Pokémon Trading Card Game building contest. Now, fans get to vote for their favorite, and the winning design will be turned into an official LEGO set.

So, back in March, The Pokémon Company announced this awesome contest! Basically, they wanted us to build a full-art Pokémon card – but using LEGOs instead of cardboard! There were a few rules: it had to be between 400 and 2,500 LEGO pieces, no minifigures allowed, and we couldn’t just copy an existing card. We had to design something totally new using Pokémon from a specific list they gave us. It was a really cool creative challenge!

The competition is now open for voting, running from May 28th to June 11th. LEGO and Pokémon fans can vote for their favorite design on the LEGO Ideas website. The winning design is scheduled to be revealed in February 2027.

Five Pokemon TCG LEGO finalists revealed

The final five contenders are A Mew Soaring High, Rowlet Razor Leaf, Joltik Charges Up!, The Mythical Arceus, and Gyarados: Sunset Splash.

IsleOh created a build called ‘A Mew Soaring High’ that depicts Mew floating above a picturesque landscape. The scene includes clouds, a river, windmills, and a small town. The creator aimed to evoke the feeling of adventure from the Pokemon games and showcase Mew with a vibrant, card-inspired aesthetic.

The “Rowlet Razor Leaf” creation from DMWM reimagines the typically adorable Grass-type starter Pokémon in action. The artwork depicts Rowlet using Razor Leaf amidst a forest backdrop, and the artist aimed to showcase a more unexpected and dynamic side of the Pokémon’s character.

The LEGO creation, “Joltik Charges Up!” by chrixeleon, is inspired by Joltik’s Pokédex entry from Pokémon Black, which describes the Pokémon learning to absorb electricity from city outlets. The build depicts Joltik breaking through a wall and chewing on wires, and it includes details like HP, type, and attack stats, presented like a Pokémon card. The Joltik figure is also detachable and has legs that can be posed.

The Arceus model, designed by livetobuild, depicts the Legendary Pokémon bursting from a Poke Ball and soaring through a starry, galactic landscape. This 999-piece set features movable legs and a head you can pose, and includes a removable Arceus figure that can stand independently.

The Gyarados: Sunset Splash LEGO creation by CreativeDynamicBuilder depicts the Water-type Pokémon emerging from a sunset backdrop. This 1,262-piece model took three weeks to build, with the head being particularly challenging and taking a full week to complete due to its intricate details.

You can now vote on LEGO Ideas to help decide which fan-created design will become an official LEGO set! Five finalists are in the running, and while your vote counts, LEGO’s team of experts will make the final decision.
