Dr Disrespect convinced he’ll be back at Midnight Society: “It’s my studio”

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from game-changing sequels to scandals that rock the gaming world. And boy, has Dr Disrespect ever caused a stir!

Dr Disrespect maintains that Midnight Society continues to be “his production house” following their separation due to an incident where he was accused of sending inappropriate messages to a minor.

In June, there was a stir in the streaming community as some ex-Twitch employees publicly shared their insights into why the popular streamer known as Dr Disrespect (real name Guy Beahm) received a permanent ban from the platform.

Previously employed individuals claimed that Doctor was accused of sending inappropriate sexual messages to someone under the age of consent. This allegation was subsequently confirmed by Beahm in a tweet that has since been removed.

Regardless of Doc’s subsequent resumption of streaming, denial of any inappropriate communication, and accusations towards Twitch for orchestrating the ban, the harm inflicted by the situation was already substantial.

In the wake of the allegations, I found myself standing apart from Doc, even my very own gaming studio, Midnight Society, did so after their leadership convened with the streamer for discussions.

As time went on, I found myself keeping The Midnight Society in my X bio, an unusual choice that someone recently brought up during a live Black Myth: Wukong stream.

He stated, “This is our studio, and this is the game we’ve been developing. This is how I envisioned the game. We sketched out the initial idea years ago, and along with some others, we established the studio. Since then, we’ve expanded the team.

As stated by Dr Disrespect, he feels confident that he will return to his studio at some point, despite all the recent events.

“I just got a feeling. Just give it a little bit more time. We’ll be right back in it. We’ll be right back in it, champs. Just give us some time. Not a problem.”

After severing ties with Doc, Midnight Society has encountered some difficulties and was compelled to dismiss staff from its project development department. Yet, the studio maintains optimism, believing they can unveil their debut game, DEADROP, by the year 2025.

In simpler terms, Robert Bowling, a co-founder of The Midnight Society, emphasized that Dr Disrespect’s position at their studio was primarily to attract attention towards the game, acting more as an influencer rather than having a significant creative role in the project.

In August, Creative Director Quinn DelHoyo disclosed that Dr Disrespect was one of four individuals who mutually agreed it was beneficial for him to depart from the studio, allowing him to attend to personal matters and prioritize self-care.
