McDonald’s drive-thru worker reveals one habit that will get you instantly ‘ignored’

As a longtime McDonald’s enthusiast and frequent drive-thru patron, I find myself deeply moved by the plight of the hardworking employees who serve us our beloved Big Macs and fries. The tale of “maccaworkaddict” resonates with me on a personal level, as I too have felt the frustration of being greeted by an enthusiastic “hello” upon arriving at the drive-thru window.

An employee at McDonald’s has garnered attention online by sharing a habit of drive-thru customers that sometimes annoys the staff members serving them.

A fast-food employee, known as “maccaworkaddict” on TikTok, playfully danced beside a post that said, “It’s impossible to overlook the car in the drive-thru since they always greet with a cheerful ‘hello’ upon arrival.

As a regular McDonald’s drive-thru patron, I’ve noticed that the system can sometimes feel a bit intrusive for the employees. Every time a new customer pulls up, they get an alert buzzing through the intercom, letting them know someone is waiting to place an order. This feature removes the need for a verbal greeting, which might make interactions feel more automated and less personal.

Multiple coworkers concurred with the original post, with a Burger King staff member expressing that clients often became vocal as soon as she donned her headset.

Another claimed that “Each time they say hello I make them wait another 10 seconds lol.”

Maccaworkaddict made it clear in their comment that the video should be viewed with a sense of humor, as it was meant to be a playful jest.

Additionally, she made it clear that customers were welcome to say “hello” at the drive-thru if they arrived and no one had yet engaged with them or begun taking their order.

Since the video went viral, Maccaworkaddict has since deleted her TikTok account.

2024 saw a lot of discussion surrounding McDonald’s drive-thrus. As far back as June, they announced the shutdown of more than 100 AI-integrated drive-thru systems that were initially introduced in 2021.

As an ardent fan, I’m excited to share that by the close of this year, we might just witness a shift in how orders are placed at McDonald’s. While definitive plans are yet to be finalized, it’s promising to hear that voice-ordering solutions could soon become a staple at our beloved drive-thrus. This potential innovation promises to streamline the ordering process even further, making my McDonald’s experiences even more seamless and enjoyable!
