Borderlands 4 features a wide variety of bosses – more than 30 in total! Many of these, like Callis: The Ripper Queen, will be encountered as you progress through the main story, and they usually drop excellent loot. A significant portion of the bosses are found within the campaign itself.

During the Carcadia Burn part of the story, you’ll encounter a boss named Driller Hole. Once you finish the mission associated with him, it’s worth returning to battle him again.

Let’s break down how to return to Driller Hole in Borderlands 4 and what loot he drops.

Where to Find Driller Hole in Borderlands 4

You can find Driller Hole within the Queen’s Cradle facility, located in the southern Tonnage Peel area of Carcadia Burn. Initially, this facility is locked, but completing the Unpaid Tab mission with Zane will grant you access.

As part of the Unpaid Tab mission, you’ll explore this facility, heading down to the Ripping Room. This is where Callis violently removes the Bolts from the people of Kairos. You will then face off against Driller Hole.

You can come back to this location later to battle Driller Hole using the Moxxi’s Encore machine. Getting here is simple: just head south from the Site Unseen Order Silo. It’s also located south of where you’ll find one of the Vault Key Fragments.

All Driller Hole Loot/Rewards

Like many bosses in Borderlands 4, Driller Hole has three unique legendary items with a higher chance of dropping from him compared to anywhere else in the game. However, it’s worth remembering that he will not drop any of the legendary class mods. It is important to note that this applies specifically to class mods.

G.M.R Weapon/Assault Rifle Damage is increased by +100% while you are aiming downsight. This also increases shot cost by +100%, and decreases fire rate by -50%.
Katagawa’s Revenge Weapon/Sniper Rifle Causes damage orbs to rise up from where the shot hits and attach themselves to nearby enemies, dealing damage over time of the gun’s current element.
Fuse Grenade Deals continuous AOE damage where the grenade lands.

The most valuable item you can obtain from Driller Hole is Katagawa’s Revenge. This Maliwan sniper rifle consistently appears with shock and incendiary elemental effects, and it features the Stormcloud ability. This ability causes its shots to either unleash fireballs or generate electric storm clouds upon impact.

The G.M.R is a solid weapon that gets more powerful while you aim, though this comes at the cost of a slower fire rate and higher ammunition usage per shot. Lastly, the Fuse is a useful grenade that inflicts damage over time.

Tips for Fighting Driller Hole

Driller Hole isn’t a particularly challenging boss, largely because the arena offers plenty of cover. Before starting the fight, it’s best to equip weapons that deal corrosive and incendiary damage. These weapon types are effective against Driller Hole’s armor and will help you quickly reduce its health.

The Driller Hole will appear on the side of the arena opposite the ripping machine in the middle. Throughout the battle, the boss will primarily attack by firing from his arm cannon. You can easily dodge these shots by staying mobile and continuing to attack him.

Be careful when the boss fires mortars from his back – they deal significant damage and cover a large area. This is his most dangerous attack. I suggest hiding behind the ripping machine to dodge the blasts, then quickly moving out to attack him again.

As long as you have the correct elemental weapons, this boss should go down fairly quickly.
