‘Inside Out’ Spinoff Series ‘Dream Productions’ and Pixar’s ‘Win or Lose’ Set Disney+ Release Dates and Unveil New Footage

As a long-time Pixar enthusiast who has grown up with their heartwarming and thought-provoking stories, I can hardly contain my excitement for these new television series! The upcoming “Dream Productions” spinoff is a dream come true (pun intended) for any Inside Out fan like myself. The idea of delving deeper into the intricate world of Riley’s dreams is not just captivating but also feels like a self-referential nod to Pixar’s own creative process – crafting masterpieces that touch our hearts and minds in ways we never thought possible.

Pixar has unveiled the Disney+ release dates for its two upcoming television series.

The spinoff show titled ‘Dream Productions’, which delves into the studio within Riley’s mind responsible for dream creation as seen in ‘Inside Out’, is scheduled to premiere on the streaming platform on December 11, 2024. The entire four-episode limited series will be accessible at once. Announced at D23 in August following the massive success of ‘Inside Out 2’, this series was initially planned for release in 2025 but has now been brought forward.

Starting February 19, 2025, I’ll be able to dive into the world of “Win or Lose,” streaming on Disney+. This eight-episode series will take me through a week leading up to the big game, offering an intimate look at various characters – the anxious kids, their overzealous parents, and even a lovelorn umpire – from hilarious to heartwarming perspectives. The unique animation style for each episode adds an extra layer of charm. As Disney puts it, “each episode offers a different visual style.

The tagline for “Dream Productions” goes as follows: “As Riley matures, her memories sometimes require additional handling. In these instances, Joy and the other Primary Emotions dispatch them to Dream Productions. However, esteemed director Paula Persimmon (voiced by Paula Pell) confronts a challenge of her own: She must bring to life the next blockbuster dream while collaborating with Xeni (voiced by Richard Ayoade), an arrogant daydream director aiming to advance from small-scale dreams to the grand arena of nocturnal visions.

This production showcases the talented voice actors: Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Ally Maki, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black, and Phyllis Smith. The creative minds behind “Dream Productions” are Mike Jones, who both writes and directs, and Jaclyn Simon, the producer.

As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that “Win or Lose” marks Pixar’s debut into long-form original television series. Unlike their previous small screen ventures, which were adaptations of their movies, this series is an entirely new creation. The brilliant minds behind the project are Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, who serve as directors, writers, and executive producers. David Lally takes on the role of producer for this groundbreaking endeavor.

Pete Docter, the chief creative officer at Pixar, stated, “These two series truly highlight Pixar’s creativity in its peak form.” He added, “We’re thrilled that fans won’t have to wait much longer for more amazing content from ‘Inside Out.’ ‘Dream Productions’ is filled with humor and enjoyment as it delves into one of our favorite aspects of the initial movie, the creation of Riley’s dreams. Additionally, we view ‘Win or Lose’ as a groundbreaking, pioneering series, one that truly embodies what I believe makes our studio exceptional: daring storytelling, side-splitting humor, and characters that resonate with everyone.
