Remnant 2 Boss Rush Guide – Rewards & Buffs

As a seasoned veteran of the Remnant universe, I can confidently say that the key to conquering Boss Rush is not about finding the perfect build, but rather mastering the one you feel most comfortable with – especially when it comes to ammo management. The Galvanized Resupply Band and Zero Divide Amulet are my go-to accessories for this challenge, as they help mitigate the scarcity of bullets.

In the Dark Horizon DLC for Remnant 2, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in a distinct game mode titled “Boss Rush”. Here, you’ll encounter a series of powerful enemies known as Elites and bosses. The goal is to accumulate resources and relic fragments by defeating them.

Boss Rush Modes Guide – Remnant 2 Dark Horizon

Boss Rush represents a series of consecutive battles against bosses, primarily for obtaining loot. This challenge consists of three difficulty levels, with each successive level featuring an increased number of bosses and better rewards. Let’s take a look at the requirements needed to conquer all three levels:

  • Triple Threat: You take on three bosses in a row with an elite in between each.
  • Trial By Fire: There are six bosses in a row in this one, and then it ends with Annihilation.
  • The Gauntlet: In this one, you take down 16 bosses, then have to take down Annihilation at the end.

In every trial, you have the option to select a challenge intensity. Opting for tougher challenges yields greater rewards and extra experience points. Here are your choices:

  • Survivor: Normal mode.
  • Veteran: Hard mode.
  • Nightmare: Challenge mode for anyone who is fully decked out.
  • Apocalypse: The tagline for this mode is just “Good luck,” so you can kind of guess what this will be like. Not for the faint of heart for sure.

How boss rushes work in Remnant 2

Initially, you’ll encounter multiple common foes and a specific Elite creature known as an Abhorration. After defeating the Elite, there’s a short respite during which no new enemies appear, allowing you some time to locate the Altar, search for treasure chests, or even gather Mod power-ups and ammo for the upcoming boss. Once you’ve gathered all the loot, you can proceed to the next room, or choose to linger to farm more resources for the boss fight.

In most instances, bosses can appear during boss rushes, except for Annihilation which doesn’t show up in Triple Threat and is consistently the last boss for both Trial By Fire and The Gauntlet. After defeating a boss, you will be cleansed of all status afflictions (with the exception possibly being tougher difficulty modes). However, it’s important to note that bosses don’t replenish your Mod power or ammo.

Once your boss has been defeated, proceed to the Altar where you can collect a temporary boost, easily identified by its unique icon on the mini-map. This buff remains active throughout the Boss Rush sequence. Furthermore, keep an eye out for a hidden treasure chest scattered across the map; inside you’ll find either a Mutator or, if you already possess one, a Corrupted Lumenite Crystal instead.

In the next room, you’ll continue with round two, where you’ll encounter a series of enemies, an Elite, and then a boss. This cycle will continue until all the bosses have been defeated. It’s worth mentioning that while bosses provide some rewards and experience points, they won’t yield weapons or boss items, especially on lower difficulty levels. You’ll still need to gather those the traditional way in the game world.

What is the best build for Boss Rush in Remnant 2?

In essence, there isn’t a universally superior build for Boss Rush encounters. Instead, it’s crucial to favor the setup that feels most natural to you. However, make sure to equip something that aids in ammunition management since boss rushes tend to be sparse with spare bullets. Running out of ammo during these battles could leave you high and dry by the end if your weapon isn’t efficient enough at conserving or regenerating ammo.

As a fellow enthusiast, I’d like to share a couple of suggestions that might aid you in managing the shortage of ammunition. Firstly, consider equipping the Galvanized Resupply Band ring, provided your equipment slots allow it. If not, the Zero Divide Amulet could be an alternative. Both items can help alleviate the issue of ammo scarcity during gameplay.

One aspect I find impressive about Boss Rushes is their effectiveness in quickly leveling newly introduced Archetypes. For instance, if you decide to test out a freshly acquired Warden Archetype from this DLC, you can easily reach level 2 by completing a single run of Triple Threat on Survivor mode. This makes it an ideal way to gain those initial levels for any new build-out you’re considering. Moreover, you can choose to temporarily exclude one of your existing Archetypes to ensure all the earned Experience Points are channeled towards the one you wish to level up more swiftly.

In the Boss Rush mode, you’ll find a variety of buffs at your disposal. However, you can only active up to five unique buffs, each with a +5 boost. Once you’ve activated a few, the remaining buffs you encounter will be repetitions of these five. This list may not include every buff, but it showcases the ones I’ve encountered while playing the DLC so far (keep checking for updates).

  • Nimble Hands: Buffs reload speed
  • Hexer: When you are dealt direct damage, you shoot off a grenade-type thing
  • Hardened: Increases damage reduction
  • Healer: Increases healing effectiveness
  • Frantic: Skill cooldown reduction
  • Chopper: Increases attack speed
  • Renewal: Increases health regen
  • Vortex: Chance to spawn hole on hit
  • Vigor: Increases max health
  • Precision: ?
  • Explosive: Enemies explode when killed, creating AOE damage (this one didn’t seem to work for me, but it may have just been bugged)
  • Velocity: Increases movement speed
  • Ranger: ?
