‘The Boys’ Season 5 Casts Daveed Diggs

As a seasoned film critic with an affinity for Broadway and a deep appreciation for diverse storytelling, I must say, the casting of Daveed Diggs in “The Boys” Season 5 is nothing short of electrifying! With his Tony Award-winning performance in “Hamilton” and his captivating roles in “Snowpiercer,” “The Good Lord Bird,” and “Blindspotting,” it’s clear that this multitalented artist has the chops to bring a unique flair to any production.

Daveed Diggs has been cast in the fifth and final season of “The Boys,” EbMaster has learned.

In June, it was revealed that the fifth season of “The Boys” would be its last. Although specifics about character details are being kept confidential, Diggs has been confirmed to play a series regular role in this Amazon Prime Video production. He will join the cast alongside returning actors Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti.

Diggs is primarily recognized for his dual portrayals of Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette in the successful Broadway musical “Hamilton,” which earned him a Tony Award in 2016. In television, he has made appearances in the adaptation of “Snowpiercer” and portrayed Frederick Douglass in the Showtime miniseries “The Good Lord Bird.” Off-screen, Diggs has provided voiceovers for animated series such as “Central Park,” “Star Trek: Prodigy,” “Krapopolis,” Amazon’s “Invincible,” and “Solar Opposites.” Additionally, Diggs co-created, produced, and acted in the Starz series “Blindspotting,” a spinoff of the 2018 film with the same title, in which he also starred and co-wrote.

I’m part of the television series “The Boys,” which is an adaptation from the New York Times best-selling comic of the same name written by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. This compelling project was masterfully developed for the screen by Eric Kripke, who serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, Judalina Neira, Ken F. Levin, and Jason Netter. The series is jointly produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television, with contributions from Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.
