James Graham’s BBC Crime Drama ‘Sherwood’ Renewed For Season 3

As a dedicated fan of British television, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the renewal of “Sherwood” for a third season! James Graham, hailing from the very soil that inspired this gripping drama, has proven time and again his knack for weaving captivating tales from the heart of Nottinghamshire.

James Graham’s BBC crime drama “Sherwood” has been renewed for Season 3.

Graham has been instrumental in projects such as the play “Dear England,” currently being reworked for the BBC, and the series “Quiz” featuring Michael Sheen.

This captivating show, featuring David Morrisey, is produced by House Productions. You can watch the first two seasons of it in the U.K. on iPlayer, and in the U.S., it’s streamed on Britbox.

Clio Barnard (“Ali & Ava”) co-directed Season 2 with Tom George. The series also features performances by Monica Dolan, David Harewood, Lorraine Ashbourne, Robert Lindsay, Perry Fitzpatrick, Christine Bottomley, Michael Balogun, Oliver Huntingdon, Bethany Asher, and Lesley Manville, along with Morrissey.

Sherwood” took its inspiration from the infamous ‘Shottingham’ gang conflicts that marred the area of Nottinghamshire where Graham spent his childhood.

Graham expressed his ongoing joy in crafting tales rooted in and influenced by Nottinghamshire’s rich history. Having ‘Sherwood,’ a show that returns on the BBC, is every British writer’s aspiration, he noted. He’s deeply thankful for Lindsay, Charlotte, Jo, and everyone at House Productions, who have consistently shown enthusiasm for ‘Sherwood.’ However, his deepest gratitude goes to the viewers, whom he aims to satisfy with series three, which will introduce fresh stories and further develop some long-held ideas.

Lindsay Salt, head of BBC’s drama department who approved the third season, stated: “The series ‘Sherwood’ has already become one of television’s all-time greatest dramas, captivating viewers with its skillful blend of characters, plot, and themes that have struck a chord with millions in the U.K. We’re thrilled to collaborate with James Graham and his team to bring his intriguing ideas for ‘Sherwood’s next chapter to the BBC.

Graham is set to come back as both writer and executive producer, working alongside Juliette Howell, Tessa Ross, and Harriet Spencer from House Productions, and Jo McClellan for the BBC.
