Quartet version 1.4 update is now available for PC with additions of New Game Plus and Nightmare Mode

Something Classic Games has just released update 1.4 for the PC version of Quartet. This follows a preview of the update earlier in the month, and the studio has delivered on its promise of a release within that timeframe.

This update introduces New Game Plus, which now features an even more challenging Nightmare difficulty. Players can also turn on a new Dev Commentary mode to get behind-the-scenes insights from the development team as they play.

The patch notes for update 1.4 are listed below. Quartet is currently available on PC (through Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store) and Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch version, released earlier this month on the 12th, will also receive this update.

New Game Plus

After finishing the main story, you’ll unlock New Game Plus! This lets you start a new playthrough with all your progress – levels, equipment, and abilities – carried over. You can even choose exactly what you want to keep!

Nightmare Mode

Available in New Game Plus. A new difficulty mode that is for the most hardcore of players!

Dev Commentary Mode

View behind-the-scenes notes from the game’s creators as you play. You can enable this feature in the settings menu. Be aware that these insights reveal details about the story!

New Areas

Chapter 11 introduces two new locations to explore on the world map, along with a brand new item and a new music track!

Misc Fixes and Polish

  • Fixed an issue where debuffs would expire too quickly for some enemies (mostly birds).

  • The Airship can now be fully controlled with the mouse.

  • The Luck stat now improves counter rate for certain accessories.

  • Trip Mine does more damage.

  • The level cap for guest characters has been raised to 50.

  • Wind Tower and Zrodlo puzzles have difficulty reduced in “casual” mode.

  • Wind Tower final puzzle can be skipped if failed repeatedly.

  • Various GPU memory usage improvements.

  • Added a debug menu helper for accidental Archives softlocks.

  • Fixed miscellaneous typos, text issues, oxford commas, collisions.
