Russell Crowe Called Out ‘Clickbaiting’ for Fan Interaction
Outside his Paris hotel, the actor asked his fans, “Are you listening?” He then asked them to stay put and not push, promising to come to them individually. He requested that everyone give each other space, adding that he would leave immediately if anyone caused trouble. He finished by signing autographs for the crowd, as seen in the video.
Someone once asked if he’d include “Maximus” alongside his name, referencing the role that won him the Best Actor Oscar. He responded with a simple, “No.”
The incident sparked some backlash online, and TMZ posted a video of it with a caption suggesting Russell Crowe wasn’t concerned with pleasing fans when he was approached outside his hotel in Paris.
Crowe responded, saying it was all a fuss over nothing. Everyone got their pictures and autographs, the path to the hotel was clear for other guests, and he made it to the airport on time. He pointed out he dealt with the situation himself, without security, and asked what the issue was.
Some fans felt the use of strong language was unnecessary and impolite. One commenter specifically mentioned the words ‘f’ and ‘dick’ as being inappropriate, suggesting a simple request for calm and order would have been enough. They didn’t perceive the crowd as threatening and urged for gratitude.

I was reading an interview with him in GQ from 2024, and he said something that really resonated with me. He was talking about regrets, and he actually admitted to having a ton of them! He said he doesn’t understand people who claim to have no regrets – like, seriously, not even one thing? He said he’s regretted harsh words, overreacting, and even missing chances to connect with friends. But he quickly added that he’s also done a lot of amazing things, which puts those regrets into perspective. It was so refreshing to hear him be so honest about it all.
He explained that his regrets weren’t something to be ashamed of, but rather a sign that he was self-aware. He was able to look back and admit when he’d acted poorly, saying something like, ‘I messed up the other day, and I’m going to try my best not to repeat that behavior.’
Russell Crowe has starred in many successful films, such as L.A. Confidential (1997) and A Beautiful Mind (2001). His most recent movie was released in 2025.
