
Ferrari has unveiled its first all-electric car, the Luce. The car’s design was created with help from Jony Ive, the former design leader at Apple, and his company, LoveFrom.
As a huge Apple fan, I always knew Jony Ive was a massive part of what made their products so special. He was instrumental in designing almost everything iconic they’ve ever made – the iPhone, iMac, iPod, you name it! He worked so closely with Steve Jobs, and I think he really defined that clean, simple look that Apple is now famous for. He truly shaped the company’s design language.
Okay, so Ferrari just dropped some serious news! On May 25th, they revealed their first-ever EV, and honestly, it’s a huge deal for a company famous for those roaring V8 and V12 engines. It’s called the Luce, and it’s a four-door, five-seater with over 1,000 horsepower. They’re saying it can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds, which is insane! But be warned, it’s going to cost you around €550,000 to get your hands on one.
As a huge Ferrari fan, I was so excited to hear that John Elkann brought in Jony Ive and Marc Newson back in 2021. They’re working with Ferrari as the company starts designing its very first electric vehicle – it’s a dream team and I can’t wait to see what they come up with!
Ferrari’s EV features Apple-inspired design touches
The interior of the Luce takes strong cues from the minimalist design aesthetic Jony Ive developed at Apple, featuring a blend of glass, aluminum, OLED screens, and traditional physical controls. Ferrari and LoveFrom explained that the design deliberately combines digital displays with the feel of real buttons and switches, rather than depending solely on touchscreens.
Initial looks at the car revealed features like a glass gear shifter, a spinning central screen, brushed aluminum accents, and traditional steering wheel controls reminiscent of Ferrari’s racing history.
Ferrari has introduced its first fully electric vehicle, the Luce, which is priced at approximately $640,000.

Ferrari engineered its electric vehicle to feel like a traditional Ferrari, even without a gasoline engine. To achieve this, they created a unique sound system and simulated the mechanical sensations drivers expect from their cars.
Ferrari’s new release is part of a growing trend among luxury brands that are drawing inspiration from Apple’s history and the legacy of Steve Jobs to appeal to collectors.
In March, a unique iPhone 17 Pro – customized to cost $10,000 – became popular online. Its design included a piece of Steve Jobs’ famous black turtleneck, blending high-end technology with a piece of Apple’s past.
