Travis Kelce Worked With an Acting Coach for Months Before ‘Grotesquerie’ Shoot and ‘Knew Everybody’s Lines,’ Says Ryan Murphy

As an ardent fan of both sports and entertainment, I must confess that I am utterly captivated by Travis Kelce‘s audacious foray into Hollywood. The man, who could have basked in the glory of his Super Bowl victory with the Kansas City Chiefs, instead chose to pursue a new challenge – acting!

After celebrating his Super Bowl victory with the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce opted instead to pursue job opportunities – specifically, within the realm of Hollywood.

At a virtual press gathering on Monday, Ryan Murphy – one of the creators and directors of “Grotesquerie” – shared that he had a preliminary discussion with NFL player Zach Ertz. During this chat, Ertz expressed his desire to venture into acting.

Murphy mentioned that they were discussing his plans following the football season and offering him some advice as a father. He often emphasizes that being a star transcends fields; if one possesses charm, they will naturally excel in any endeavor.

Murphy commented that the meeting was “pleasant”, wrapping up by suggesting to Kelce, “I’ll certainly remember you, and perhaps we’ll develop an idea together.” However, Kelce countered and expressed his eagerness, stating, “No, I want to get started immediately. I have three months at my disposal now, and I truly desire to be involved in anything as soon as possible.

Currently, Murphy was initiating the early stages of “Grotesquerie,” his newest miniseries for FX, which centers around a detective portrayed by Niecy Nash-Betts, as she investigates a series of horrific crimes that seem strikingly connected to her. Murphy communicated to Kelce, “I have a role in mind, and if you’re intrigued, I will craft it especially for you.

After Kelce gave his approval, Murphy remarked, “We were ready to go full speed ahead!” Murphy added, “Travis is a special talent; I directed his first episode with Niecy, and from the very beginning, Niecy and I felt an instant connection with him. We took him under our wing, assuring him that he wouldn’t and couldn’t disappoint. And indeed, he was exceptional.

Murphy mentioned that before the filming, Kelce had been working with an acting tutor for a considerable period (several months), and this took place during the off-season of his football career.

As a movie enthusiast, let me share my experience: This actor surprised me by memorizing the script perfectly. He knew every line like the back of his hand, and his dedication was unparalleled. He repeatedly asked for guidance, saying “I’m eager to learn, coach me, coach me.” So I did, and he turned out to be a joy to work with. I hope we can collaborate again in future projects. There aren’t enough words to express my admiration for him as a leader. He’s simply the kindest, sweetest individual you could ever meet. All the good things said about him are absolutely true.

The series titled ‘Grotesquerie’ makes its debut on FX on the 25th of September. Alongside the lead actor, Courtney B. Vance, this show also features Lesley Manville, Micaela Diamond, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and Raven Goodwin.
