Assassin's Creed Invictus Is Reportedly Fall Guys-Inspired, Will Support 16 Players

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say the news about Assassin’s Creed Invictus has me both intrigued and slightly skeptical. On one hand, the concept of a multiplayer Assassin’s Creed game sounds like an exhilarating twist on the franchise I’ve grown to love. The round-based gameplay reminiscent of Fall Guys, coupled with the potential to compete in various game modes on maps inspired by previous titles, seems like a recipe for endless fun.

According to reports, it appears that Assassin’s Creed Invictus, a new title in Ubisoft’s popular series, may draw inspiration from the team-based, round-style gameplay of Fall Guys. If the leak is accurate, this game could accommodate as many as 16 players.

Ubisoft unveiled Assassin’s Creed: Invictus in 2022 along with several other Assassin’s Creed endeavors, but so far, only the fact that it will be multiplayer and a potential release date have been confirmed. Now, a leaker known as j0nathan on platform X, who has a reputation for revealing Assassin’s Creed details, has seemingly disclosed some initial insights (in French) about what exactly Assassin’s Creed: Invictus entails.

To avenge my Slapp, here are some details about the upcoming multiplayer game Assassin’s Creed Invictus, set to release next year:

As per j0nathan’s report, Assassin’s Creed Invictus is expected to host 16 players in round-based matches reminiscent of Fall Guys’ multiplayer style, where the ultimate goal is to be the last assassin remaining. Each round offers different game modes such as Team Deathmatch, a free-for-all mode, and one where competitors race to claim points on the map first. Surviving players are said to have the ability to select from various power-ups throughout the session, allowing them to customize or “build” their playing style over time.

According to reports, the gameplay scenarios are expected to unfold across maps reminiscent of past Assassin’s Creed titles, such as Baghdad from Assassin’s Creed Mirage and a map inspired by Assassin’s Creed Shadows set in Japan. Some of these maps will feature natural dangers, like one based near Pompeii where players must avoid pools of erupting lava.

Based on the recent leak, it appears that players will have the option to select from a range of characters throughout the series’ history. Specifically, j0nathan has hinted that they can indeed verify the inclusion of characters like Ezio from Assassin’s Creed 2 and Cesare Borgia, the antagonist from Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.

Until we get the authentic news directly from Ubisoft, it would be wise to approach the current information on Assassin’s Creed Invictus with a dose of skepticism. For now, this is all that’s been officially disclosed about the game.

Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, earlier confirmed that they are creating remakes for some of the older Assassin’s Creed games this year. He also publicly criticized malicious online remarks directed at the creators of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows regarding the inclusion of a playable Black samurai named Yasuke, who is based on an actual historical figure. The game, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, will be released on November 12.
