‘Detroiters’ Coming to Netflix in October

As a seasoned movie critic with a penchant for comedy series, I can confidently say that the return of “Detroiters” on Netflix is a day to mark on our calendars! Having witnessed the meteoric rise of Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson from their humble beginnings in Detroit’s Second City, it’s heartening to see them revisit their roots.

On October 15th, “Detroiters,” the cherished comedic series by Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson, will be available for streaming on Netflix.

It’s been verified by EbMaster that both seasons of the Michigan-set comedy series can now be streamed within the U.S. Previously, the show was accessible for viewing on Comedy Central and Paramount+.

The series titled “Detroiters” premiered on Comedy Central in February 2017, airing for two consecutive seasons of ten episodes each. However, the network decided to discontinue it in December 2018. The show centered around the characters Sam Duvet and Tim Cramblin, played by Richardson and Robinson respectively, who were best friends, neighbors, and colleagues at an ad agency where they produced budget-conscious television commercials. Richardson, Robinson, Kanin, and Kelly were the creators of this comedic production.

The sitcom was shot on-site in Detroit, a city that served as the birthplace for both Richardson and Robinson, as well as their launching pad at Second City. After the series concluded, Robinson and Kanin collaborated to produce the Netflix’s absurd sketch comedy show titled “I Think You Should Leave.” Meanwhile, Richardson, who had previously appeared in recurring roles on “Veep” and “The Office,” moved forward to star in “The Afterparty,” “The Tomorrow War,” and “Werewolves Within.” Subsequently, Richardson, Robinson, and Kanin all earned Emmy Awards post the stint of “Detroiters.

Detroiters” was executive produced by Lorne Michaels, Jason Sudeikis, Kanin, Joe Kelly, and Andrew Singer. This series, jointly produced by Comedy Central, Broadway Video, and Central Production, featured Lailani Ledesma as Lea, Pat Vern Harris as Sheila Portnadi, Mort Crim portraying himself, Andre Belue as Tommy Pencils, and Shawntay Dalon in the role of Chrissy Cramblin. The exception being Richardson and Robinson, who were not among the main cast members.
