‘Thunderbolts*’ Trailer: Marvel Recruits Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan and David Harbour for a Twisted Team-Up

As a seasoned movie critic with a soft spot for Marvel’s intricate narratives and character development, I must say that the “Thunderbolts*” trailer has left me both intrigued and eagerly anticipating its release. Having watched Sebastian Stan’s transformation from a scrawny Steve Rogers to the battle-hardened Captain America, and having been thoroughly impressed by Florence Pugh’s portrayal of the enigmatic Black Widow, I’m excited to see how these two powerhouses collaborate within this unique ensemble.

Marvel released the first trailer for “Thunderbolts*,” opening in theaters on May 2, 2025.

As a film enthusiast, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming superhero movie that brings back Sebastian Stan from the Captain America franchise, along with Florence Pugh and David Harbour, who have graced our screens as Black Widow. This exciting tale revolves around reformed Marvel villains who find themselves compelled to work together, executing clandestine missions for the U.S. government.

The cast of “Thunderbolts” additionally features Olga Kurylenko, who played Taskmaster in “Black Widow”, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost from “Ant-Man and the Wasp”, Russell as John Walker from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus portraying Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. In “Top Gun: Maverick”, Lewis Pullman takes on an enigmatic character named Bob.

Pugh remarks in the trailer, confronted by the rest of the group, ‘Each one of us has a dark past – secret missions, burglaries at government facilities, assassinations for hire… It seems someone wants us eliminated.’

Louis-Dreyfus, playing a cunning CIA director, remarks, “Growing up, we’re often taught to distinguish between good people and bad ones. However, as time goes on, you start to perceive that there are not only bad individuals but also those who are far worse. And beyond that, there’s little else.

The movie titled “Thunderbolts” is helmed by director Jake Schreier, with Kevin Feige serving as the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez, and Scarlett Johansson are the executive producers. Eric Pearson (“Black Widow,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Transformers One,” “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”), creator of “Beef” Lee Sung Jin, and co-showrunner of “The Bear” Joanna Calo collaborate on the screenplay for this film.
