Colorado’s “Oatmeal Cream Pie Bandit” charged after raiding farm stand then fleeing in a Range Rover

Loveland, Colorado police have charged a woman with theft after she allegedly took items multiple times from a farm stand that operates on an honor system, then left in her Range Rover without paying.

Security footage shows the suspect vandalizing Gone Astray Goods, a small sourdough bakery in Loveland, twice.

The video quickly became popular after being posted on Instagram and Facebook, and people started calling her the “Oatmeal Cream Pie Bandit.”

One time too many for the bandit

In the first instance, she took nearly all of the oatmeal cream pies, plus some other things, and even said “thank you” to the camera before leaving the store without paying.

bakery owner Stephanie Courville kept the footage private, but the suspect returned weeks later.

Courville went outside and stopped the woman while she was stealing. She told her she still owed money on a previous bill. The woman said she needed to get her phone from her car, left her bag behind, and then walked away without coming back.

Courville trailed the suspect and recorded her trying to conceal her car’s license plate by reversing her Range Rover. She then provided the video, which clearly showed the plate, to the police.

The Loveland Police Department responded to concerns about using police resources for this case by emphasizing that holding people accountable is important, particularly when local businesses and residents are affected by crime. They added that even homemade goods need to be paid for.

This isn’t the first food-related theft to go viral online. Just a few months ago, a streamer broadcasting from a food truck had money stolen from his tip jar by a customer while he was taking an order, and the incident was captured live on Twitch.
