The 8 Must-Watch Movies on Hulu This Month

Hulu continues to be a great choice for movie fans, especially thanks to its partnership with Neon, which means you can find recent award-winning films like It Was Just an Accident and The Secret Agent there. This month, they’re also offering a Christopher Nolan movie, a bunch of Star Wars films, a cool, understated vampire movie, and what many consider the best blockbuster of 2026. And that’s just what they’ve added recently! There’s a lot to love, but if you’re looking for one must-watch, it’s the film directed by Raimi – it’s fantastic.

The Departed

Year: 2006
Run time: 2h 31m
Director: Martin Scorsese

Widely considered one of the greatest directors ever, he finally won his Best Director Oscar with this hugely popular and critically acclaimed film, which is a remake of the 2002 Hong Kong movie Infernal Affairs. Starring Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio, the movie follows two undercover agents – Damon plays a member of the Irish mob who goes undercover within the police, and DiCaprio is a cop trying to infiltrate a powerful crime boss’s (Jack Nicholson) organization. Even today, it’s a thrilling and fun watch. ➽ Streaming now.

Joy Ride

Year: 2023
Run time: 1h 35m
Director: Adele Lim

This isn’t the action thriller starring Paul Walker and Steve Zahn – it’s a completely different film! This one is a funny and smart comedy that first showed at SXSW, featuring Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu. It’s both hilariously crude and genuinely touching, similar in spirit to Girls Trip, and proves that putting a group of gifted comedians together can be a recipe for success. ➽ Now available to stream.

Only Lovers Left Alive

Year: 2013
Run time: 2h 3m
Director: Jim Jarmusch

It’s hard to know where to start with one of the most uniquely charming movies of the last decade! This film, written and directed by Jarmusch, tells the story of vampires who are so old and world-weary that they’ve become largely indifferent to everything around them. Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston give brilliant performances, supported by a fantastic cast including Mia Wasikowska, Anton Yelchin, Jeffrey Wright, and John Hurt. ➽Watch it now on streaming.

The Prestige

Year: 2006
Run time: 2h 10m
Director: Christopher Nolan

Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed film follows two rival magicians in 19th-century London as they try to outdo each other. Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman deliver standout performances, but the movie is best known for Nolan’s clever direction and writing, particularly a shocking twist at the end. ➽ Now available to stream.

Send Help

Year: 2026
Run time: 1h 53m
Director: Sam Raimi

This highly-rated film, a strong return for the director of Evil Dead 2, proves Rachel McAdams is incredibly versatile. She plays an employee tormented by her boss (played with skill by Dylan O’Brien) and one of the sole survivors of a plane crash. As the tension and horror increase, it becomes increasingly unclear who, if anyone, you’re hoping will escape their deserted island. ➽ Now streaming.

Sirat

Year: 2025
Run time: 1h 54m
Director: Oliver Laxe

Nominated for two Oscars, this critically acclaimed film follows a father (Sergi Lopez) desperately searching for his daughter amidst the vibrant rave culture of southern Morocco. What begins as a missing-person mystery quickly transforms into a chilling and unsettling exploration of danger and mortality. Widely considered one of the best films of recent years, it’s currently streaming exclusively on Hulu.

Star Wars

Year: 1977
Run time: 2h 2m
Director: George Lucas

This is a temporary addition to Hulu’s streaming library, giving those without Disney+ access to more of the Star Wars universe. It’s likely intended to generate excitement for The Mandalorian and Grogu, which releases this weekend and also has a special behind-the-scenes feature on the service. Now, Hulu is offering the original Star Wars trilogy and Rogue One so fans can revisit the galaxy before experiencing the latest installment. ➽ Available to stream now.

War of the Worlds

Year: 2005
Run time: 2h 31m
Director: Steven Spielberg

As a huge movie fan, I was so excited to see Tom Cruise and the director of Minority Report team up again for this take on H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds. Cruise plays just a regular guy trying to make it through the day when aliens attack, and honestly, it’s a brilliantly directed action movie. It’s perfect for a fun escape, but it also struck me as one of the earliest films to really capture the feeling of post-9/11 anxiety. You can stream it right now!
