Tom Holland, known for playing Spider-Man, is set to star in a film called The Lincoln Highway. However, the movie’s future is unclear because Paramount is now buying Warner Bros.
According to Page Six, Christopher Storer was set to direct a movie based on Amor Towles’ popular novel, The Lincoln Highway, starring Holland. However, Paramount Pictures leaders Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy ultimately decided not to move forward with the film due to its projected budget of $30 to $40 million.
Although Paramount remains involved, director Noah Storer and producer David Heyman have been given permission to pitch The Lincoln Highway to other studios. According to a source at Page Six, several studios are eager to make the film, with one studio executive noting that Storer is “a filmmaker everyone wants to collaborate with.”
Until Paramount and Warner Bros. finalize their agreement, the film The Lincoln Highway is on hold. They’re currently working through the necessary legal and financial processes, and expect the deal to be completed around July.
Honestly, if the deal to get The Lincoln Highway made into a movie takes way too long – like past mid-summer – it won’t be the only project in trouble. Another studio insider actually told me they think we’re going to see a lot more projects stalled if this whole acquisition process keeps dragging on. It’s a bit worrying, to be honest!
Christopher Storer created, co-runs, and executive produces the popular Hulu series The Bear, which first aired in 2022 and recently released a special episode in May. The fifth season of The Bear—announced as the show’s last—will premiere on June 25th, starring Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Ayo Edebiri.
The show has received numerous awards, including Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and Critics’ Choice Awards. It also boasts a very high score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on reviews from critics.
Tom Holland has a packed 2026 coming up. Following his appearances as Spider-Man in three Marvel movies, he’s returning to the role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set to release in July. The new film picks up after the surprising ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Just two weeks before that, Tom Holland will also appear in Christopher Nolan’s new movie, an adaptation of The Odyssey. The film features a fantastic cast, including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Elliot Page.
If the film adaptation of Christopher Storer and Tom Holland’s The Lincoln Highway—a story about two Midwestern brothers on a road trip—moves forward, the pair will next adapt Amor Towles’ debut novel. Towles first gained widespread recognition with A Gentleman in Moscow, which was recently made into a Paramount+ series this year.
