As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of crime dramas and a diehard fan of the “Pretty Little Liars” franchise, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment upon hearing the news that the Max series has been canceled after just two seasons.
The popular “Pretty Little Liars” show by Max, as confirmed by EbMaster, has been terminated following its second season.
This show premiered on the streaming platform back in 2022, under the title “Original Sin” for its initial season. Later, between May and June in 2024, the second season titled “Summer School” was broadcast.
Although Max won’t proceed with a third season for ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ we extend our heartfelt gratitude to co-creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, along with the team at Warner Bros. Television, for reviving this fresh take on the ‘Liars.’ In a statement, Max expressed, ‘Their innovative and contemporary storytelling – matched with the exceptional skills of our cast and crew – infused the show with a thrilling, eerie atmosphere that honored its initial ‘Rosewood’ essence.’
In the Max series, we see Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles, Maia Reficco, Mallory Bechtel, Sharon Leal, Alex Aiono, Jordan Gonzalez, and Elias Kacavas taking on their roles.
I’m thrilled to share that I was a part of the team that brought this fantastic series to life! Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring were the brilliant minds behind it all, serving as its creators and executive producers. The production of our show was handled by Muckle Man Productions, which is owned by Roberto, and Alloy Entertainment. Warner Bros. Television also played a significant role in this collaboration. Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo from Alloy Entertainment were equally instrumental as executive producers, along with Marlene King, who developed the original “Pretty Little Liars” series, and Michael Grassi. It’s been an incredible journey working with such a talented group!
The show you’re referring to is the fourth installment in the “Pretty Little Liars” collection, all loosely based or adapted from the book series penned by Sara Shepard. The initial “Pretty Little Liars” ran for seven seasons on Freeform (previously ABC Family), concluding in 2017. After that, we had two spinoffs, namely “Ravenswood” and “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists,” which were both aired on the current Freeform network.
