Concord's Future Remains Unclear, Director Steps Down Into Support Role - Report

As a long-time gaming enthusiast who has seen the rise and fall of many promising titles, I can’t help but feel a pang of familiar sadness upon hearing about Concord’s uncertain future at Firewalk Studios. The game, with its unique concept and stunning visuals, had the potential to carve out a niche for itself in the crowded gaming landscape.

As per reports, Ryan Ellis, who was previously the head of Concord, has chosen to shift positions and take on a supportive role at Firewalk Studios. The studio’s future is currently uncertain.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve been eagerly following the updates on Concord, and from what I gather, the latest buzz suggests that Sony is yet undecided about the future of this game. The team at Firewalk seems to share my concerns, as they appear pessimistic about the possibility of its return after it went offline recently. It’s been reported that some employees have been tasked with brainstorming ideas for new projects, which leaves me wondering if Concord might be taking a backseat. There are whispers that Firewalk could instead support one of Sony’s ongoing first-party projects in development. Here’s hoping for the best!

It appears that other workers at the studio expect possible mass terminations or even a total shutdown of Firewalk Studios, given its high costs within Sony’s lineup of primary developers. Some team members have been updating their work portfolios and choosing to leave, while those who stay are anxiously awaiting details about potential severance deals if Sony decides on layoffs.

On August 23, Concord debuted on PS5 and PC. However, it was temporarily taken down on September 6 due to a low number of players and reported poor sales. Interestingly, despite its current situation, Concord is set to feature in Amazon’s upcoming video game TV series. Players who purchased the digital version have had the game removed from their accounts following a refund.
