A Billy Joel biopic is moving forward, but it does not have his approval.
A representative of Joel’s has shared the following statement with Variety:
Since 2021, everyone involved has been informed they don’t have the rights to Billy Joel’s life story and can’t obtain the necessary music licenses for this project. Billy Joel hasn’t approved or endorsed this project in any way, and proceeding without his permission would be legally problematic and professionally unwise.
