Showtime and CBS Alum Christina Spade Launches Alexun Advisory Firm

As a seasoned movie buff with a penchant for behind-the-scenes tales, I must say that Christina Spade’s journey from the executive suite to the consulting world is as riveting as any Hollywood blockbuster. Her new venture, Alexun Advisory, promises to be a game-changer in the realm of corporate strategy, much like how a well-crafted screenplay can elevate a film from mediocre to masterpiece.

Christina Spade, a past Chief Financial Officer at both Showtime and CBS Corporation, has recently established Alexun Advisory – a consultancy dedicated to assisting businesses in making strategic, long-term choices concerning their operations and planning.

Spade differentiates Alexun’s consulting services from others that have emerged lately, focusing particularly on aiding companies, regardless of their growth phase, with strategic planning for long-term decisions. Notably, Spade has recently provided advisory services to startups, such as those involved in AI technology.

Throughout my professional journey, I’ve consistently emphasized the significance of generating value for a company. This concept has always resonated deeply with me as a top priority, not merely a trendy phrase,” Spade shared with EbMaster.

Ensuring a business produces valuable products and services that appreciate over time, such as hit TV shows and films for a Hollywood studio or broadcaster, can sometimes be challenging when the company is focusing on its short-term tactical plans, she explained.

With my extensive background, I can guide CEOs in identifying ways to generate worth. This involves assembling the appropriate team, developing an effective business plan, showing flexibility, and having the necessary resources to execute these strategies,” Spade explained.

In my view, “Alexun” stands for something that significantly awakens and underscores our human essence, as Spade puts it. This remarkable entity hails from the heart of New York City.

For approximately two decades, Spade held senior financial positions and eventually rose to become CFO for Showtime Networks. In 2018, she was promoted to CFO for the parent company CBS. During the 2019 merger between CBS and Viacom, Spade managed all financial operations for CBS Corporation. After a reshuffle following the merger, Spade served as CEO of AMC Networks for two months in 2022. That year, the company underwent a significant strategic shift amidst the turbulence within the pay-TV industry.

After leaving AMC Networks, Spade has taken up consulting roles for various companies privately. This experience has significantly improved her grasp of the need among top executives for strategic coaching and advice on long-term decisions, investment strategies, and capital allocation plans. Unlike other large media and advisory firms specializing in restructuring or project-specific tasks, Alexun Advisory distinguishes itself by offering comprehensive services that cater to these strategic needs.

As a movie buff, I firmly believe that setting long-term objectives is just like crafting a compelling screenplay. It’s crucial to clarify a company’s purpose, its mission, and the value it aims to create over time. This focus not only adds depth to the story but also helps ensure its success in the long run.
