Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake Is Still Coming, Says Developer

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for the Star Wars universe and a deep affection for the original Knights of the Old Republic, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and trepidation upon hearing the latest news about the KOTOR remake. The game has been on a rollercoaster ride since its announcement, with more twists and turns than the galaxy itself.

Since its announcement in 2021, there hasn’t been much visible progress on the reboot of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic. There were even whispers that the project had been abandoned. However, with Saber Interactive recently separating from Embracer Group, they’ve managed to secure new investments which will enable them to continue developing KOTOR and other projects.

As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that I recently learned through an official statement that Aleph Capital Partners and Crestview Partners have invested substantially in Saber Interactive, my favorite game development company. The exact investment figure wasn’t disclosed, but it’s clear this move will enable Saber to pay off the debt owed to Embracer Group following their acquisition. This means we can look forward to more amazing games from the 13 studios that Saber now calls home, spread across the globe!

As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is among the exciting new titles Saber Interactive is working on alongside Jurassic Park: Survival, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, RoadCraft, and Tempest Rising. Yet, there’s no set date for the release of the KOTOR remake as of now.

Initially, Aspyr Media was tasked with remaking the classic Star Wars game KOTOR, having previously adapted several such games for contemporary gaming systems. However, due to internal problems during development, the project was put on an indefinite pause. Later in 2022, Saber Interactive stepped into the project, and we hope that with their involvement, the development process will run more smoothly now that they have a stable future ahead.
