‘Bachelorette’ Winner Devin Strader Denies Ex’s Claim of Physical Assault in Past Restraining Order: ‘Simply Not True’

As someone who has been in the limelight and experienced the intense scrutiny that comes with it, I can empathize with Devin Strader‘s situation. It’s unfortunate that past mistakes, especially ones from a low point in his life, are being brought up now. However, I do appreciate his transparency and honesty in addressing these matters.

Devin Strader, the latest victor of “The Bachelorette,” has spoken out following the disclosure of a prior arrest and protective order issued by a former partner.

As a passionate cinephile, I’ve felt compelled to set the record straight after the flurry of narratives and distortions about my personal life that have been circulating in the media following my stint on The Bachelorette. Here’s my take, shared in a statement sent out to press on Thursday.

Initially, he expressed his apologies for the 13-minute video he had uploaded on Instagram after the September 3 finale. In a post, he admitted, “I’m not pleased with that moment of poor judgment. I am deeply grateful for my experience on the show, and for having known and grown to care for Jenn. I genuinely regret causing her any pain. She is an extraordinary individual, and I wish only the best for her.

Later on, Strader delved into the subject of his past legal issues, initially reported by RealitySteve on Monday. It was uncovered that in 2017, an affidavit was issued for his arrest due to his ex-partner’s accusation that he had broken into her house and stolen a necklace. Additionally, previously confidential court documents showed that she claimed he had put her in a chokehold – allegations which he is currently denying.

“Most recently, there have been challenges from a low point in my past that have been brought up and severely misconstrued. The accusations are simply not true as I have never inappropriately laid hands on another individual or treated my ex-girlfriend in any of the ways I have been depicted. That restraining order was never granted, and fully dismissed,” he continued. “My college ex-girlfriend and I ended up reconciling and eventually ended our relationship on good terms. This was the first time I ever fell in love and I learned a lot from our relationship. It was a growing experience for both of us.”

Strader concluded by saying, “I acknowledge that I’ve had my share of mistakes in life and understand I’m far from perfect. Yet, I’ve strived each day to become someone my loved ones could be proud of, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who has stood by me throughout this journey.

On Tuesday, neither ABC nor Warner Bros., producers of “The Bachelorette,” chose to provide any information regarding the selection process for the show or the release of the court records.

According to a reliable source who spoke to EbMaster then, “We prioritize the safety of our contestants greatly, always making sure we conduct a comprehensive investigation. Despite our rigorous background checks, the protective order was not found during our searches.
