As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of TV shows and their behind-the-scenes drama, I find myself captivated by the saga of Chevy Chase and his tumultuous relationship with “Community“. Being a fan of the series myself, I can’t help but feel a twinge of sympathy for Joel McHale, who had to endure Chase’s less-than-enthusiastic attitude towards their shared project.
As a dedicated viewer, I’d describe “Community” as a laugh-out-loud comedy TV series that delves into the whimsical escapades of students at Greendale Community College – a unique educational institution where underachievers from various walks of life, including high school dropouts, homemakers, and retirees, pursue their dreams. The series is brimming with protests, laughter, blossoming romances, and surprisingly little academic rigor!
While many viewers and critics found the show, “Community,” enjoyable, it seems that one of its stars, Chevy Chase, did not share the same sentiment. In a conversation with WTF with Marc Maron, the actor openly admitted that he found the TV series to be lacking in humor.
To put it simply, the show didn’t make me laugh as much as I expected, and I found myself feeling somewhat restricted. Each performer had their own funny moments, but overall it wasn’t as impactful for me. I didn’t have a problem with the character, but I felt a stronger pull towards solitude. Being at that table with those people day after day was just too much for me. It was overwhelming.
In a conversation with People, Joel McHale – who also stars on Community – admitted that he no longer felt the sting of Chase’s accusations by 2009, the year the show premiered.
2009 marked the year he ceased causing me emotional distress.
