As a hopeless romantic who’s spent way too many winter nights curled up with Hallmark movies and a box of tissues, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia when I read about these heartwarming holiday tales.
‘Tis the season for 47 new Christmas movies!
This year, the Hallmark Channel is commemorating 15 years of its “Countdown to Christmas” by airing 31 brand-new films! Additionally, the Hallmark Mystery channel will be broadcasting nine new movies for their “Miracles of Christmas.” The festivities commence on October 18th.
Moreover, two popular franchises, “Christmas on Cherry Lane” and “Unwrapping Christmas,” will introduce seven fresh movies to their series. The former will delight fans with three additional films that continue to unfold the family’s tales, while the latter is a four-part franchise centered around the holiday romances of four friends at All Wrapped Up store during festive seasons.
2021’s lineup boasts thrilling reunions such as Diedrich Bader and Richard Riehle from “Office Space” in “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story”; Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, stars of “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”, in “Holiday Mismatch”; Tammin Sursok and Brant Daugherty, former cast members of “Pretty Little Liars”, in “Trivia at St. Nick’s; and Erin Krakow and Daniel Lissing, a pair from “When Calls the Heart”, in “Santa Tell Me.
In addition to the movies below, Hallmark will also roll out multiple new series.
Titled “Finding Mr. Christmas,” this reality show is a competition series spanning eight episodes, with Jonathan Bennett as host and Melissa Peterman as judge. The show features ten attractive actors who live together and compete for the starring role in an upcoming Hallmark holiday film. The winner will share the screen with Jessica Lowndes in the original movie “Happy Howlidays,” which is set to premiere on December 21 on the Hallmark Channel.
Additionally, Wes Brown is set to present “Ready, Set, Glow!”, an unscripted three-part series showcasing festive light displays across the USA. This exciting venture kicks off on December 12th.
Meanwhile, on the recently launched Hallmark+ app, two new limited series will roll out.
On October 31st, Sarah Drew will direct “Mistletoe Murders,” a six-part series inspired by the well-known Audible original. The narrative revolves around the owner of a Christmas-themed store who finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery when her friend is falsely accused. As suggested by the plot summary, she cannot resist using her detective instincts to clear her friend’s name…or develop feelings for the local Detective Sam Wilner.
The limited series titled “Holidazed,” which focuses on six families with diverse backgrounds residing in the same cul-de-sac, will consist of eight episodes. The show is set to premiere its first two episodes on November 14. Starring in this production are Dennis Haysbert, John C. McGinley, Loretta Devine, and Virginia Madsen.
See the full lineup of new movies below. All films debut at 8 p.m. ET, unless otherwise noted.
