Fix Dead Rising Remaster (DRDR) not Launching, Crashes During Cutscene

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – the glitches, the bugs, and the technical hiccups that often plague our beloved games. But when it comes to Dead Rising Remaster, it seems like Capcom has taken a step back into the past, bringing along a plethora of issues that are as frustrating as they are unexpected.

Capcom has once again brought back the popular third-person action game featuring zombies, but unfortunately, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is plagued with several technical problems. Players are expressing their frustrations over poor performance, frequent stuttering and freezing. The unfortunate few are unable to play at all as the title often crashes during introductory cutscenes. This guide will show you how to resolve this issue.

Dead Rising Remaster (DRDR) not Launching

Players experiencing issues with Dead Rising Remaster have been encountering troubles with the opening cutscenes, as the game tends to crash during this part. This makes the game unplayable for some users. Currently, there are a few proposed solutions, but unfortunately, these fixes don’t work consistently.

  1. First solution is deleting two files: Crash Reporter and Crash Reporter DLL. So, you must go to the folder where you have installed DRDR and remove them. Next, you can try to launch the title. There is a chance that cutscenes won’t crash. Of course, removing any files from the game directory may cause potential problems, but at this point you probably have them already, so you risk nothing.
  2. Some players also have found out that this issue is caused by ReShade. It’s a program to improves graphical appearance – especially colors in older games. Uninstalling this application resolved the problems for many. Of course, there is a chance that there are other third-party programs which cause these crashes.
