Daniel Alegre Named CEO of Spanish-Language Giant TelevisaUnivision

As a seasoned media industry observer and enthusiast, I couldn’t be more thrilled about Daniel Alegre taking the reins at TelevisaUnivision. With his extensive operational experience in digital media spanning across the U.S., Mexico, and Latin America, he’s poised to steer this Spanish-language media giant into uncharted territories of growth.

Daniel Alegre is set to assume control over the leading Spanish-speaking broadcasting conglomerate, TelevisaUnivision. This move positions an executive with robust operational background in digital media at the head of a corporation aiming to capitalize on opportunities as its English-language rivals confront the growing tide of streaming services.

Wade Davis, who served as Viacom’s CFO before taking over Univision in 2020 and later merging it with Grupo Televisa from Mexico in 2022, is set to assume the role of Vice Chairman within the company, while also retaining his position on the Board of Directors’ Executive Committee. Davis continues to hold a significant stake in the company as one of its major shareholders.

In my perspective, as we strive to expand our unprecedented market dominance with recent investments in our linear and streaming services, along with our news and sports offerings, Daniel is the ideal choice to guide us at this crucial juncture. His exceptional global operational background spanning across technology, digital platforms, and entertainment in the U.S., Mexico, and Latin America over three decades is precisely what TelevisaUnivision requires to propel us forward into our next stage.” – Said Alfonso de Angoitia, executive chairman of TelevisaUnivision, in a statement.
