Krypto The Superdog To Appear In James Gunn's Superman Film - Report

As a die-hard fan with a lifetime of comic book adventures under my belt, I can barely contain my excitement about James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film! The inclusion of Krypto, Superdog, is a testament to Gunn’s understanding of what makes these stories special – the whimsical, the extraordinary, and the downright hilarious.

As a devoted admirer, it’s thrilling to share the news that Mark Waid, renowned for his work on Kingdom Come and Batman/Superman: World’s Finest, has confirmed my beloved Krypto the Superdog will grace our screens in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film! During a recent episode of Capes and Lunatics Podcast, Waid spilled the beans about Krypto’s role in this 2025 release.

According to Waid (through Collider), the movie features a dog with superpowers, including heat vision, which he finds exciting about Gunn’s take on the DC Universe. Waid, who has worked with both DC and Marvel, highlighted that Gunn approaches comic book storytelling with respect while still preserving its playful aspects. He emphasized that unlike Zack Snyder, Gunn’s vision for this universe is not as dark.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming movie has cast David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. The storyline will also introduce Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl. Intriguingly, in June, set photos emerged showing Corenswet in a brighter Superman suit, echoing the iconic look of Christopher Reeve, and Edi Gathegi donning an authentic T-mask while filming Mr. Terrific in Cleveland, Ohio.

In July 11, 2025, Superman is set to debut as the opening installment in the revamped DC Universe, referred to as Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. Unlike a typical origin story, this movie will present a mix of DC superheroes and villains under director James Gunn’s fresh vision for the franchise.
