Olivia Wilde Wrote to Charli XCX After Watching Her ‘Incredible’ Audition for ‘I Want Your Sex’ Film: ‘You’re a Brilliant Actress’

As a long-time admirer of both Olivia Wilde and Charli XCX, I am beyond excited for their upcoming collaboration in “I Want Your Sex.” Olivia’s enthusiasm for Charli is infectious, and it’s clear that she respects the pop star’s talent and experience. It’s refreshing to see a seasoned actress like Wilde acknowledging the expertise of someone who has been performing since they were a teenager.

Even before their first encounter, Olivia Wilde expresses great excitement about acting alongside music sensation Charli XCX in director Gregg Araki’s upcoming movie titled “I Want Your Sex.

Wilde expressed that he has texted with someone he admires, and shared his affection for her,” Wilde said at the Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Luncheon in New York City on Tuesday. “She is incredibly inspiring, and I support the surge of female influence in music. I am excited to be a spectator, and I eagerly anticipate attending her performance.

Although specifics about Charli’s character are being kept secret, “I Want Your Sex” revolves around Wilde as the flamboyant figure Erika Tracy from the art world, who persuades a young man named Elliot (Cooper Hoffman) to become her sexual inspiration. Initially seen as an exciting fantasy for the budding artist, their relationship eventually spirals into a harrowing predicament, with Erika leading him through a realm of passion, power, violence, and deceit. The initial draft was written by Araki and Karley Sciortino, known for their work on “Now Apocalypse”.

When asked about offering guidance to Charli during her first major role, Wilde replied that she wouldn’t presume to intrude on the experienced actress’s creative workflow.

Wilde stated, “If she inquires, certainly, that’s my response.” She’s been acting since she was a young girl, as far as I know. Given her extensive stage experience, she undoubtedly knows her stuff. Her audition was outstanding, truly impressive. So, I penned to her, ‘Of course, you’re not only an exceptional actress but also brilliant.’

As of now, the film “I Want Your Sex,” created by Seth Caplan and Teddy Schwarzman of Black Bear Pictures, doesn’t have a confirmed release date set.
