Tyler, the Creator Joins Timothée Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow in Josh Safdie’s ‘Marty Supreme’ From A24

As a fan who’s been following Tyler, the Creator‘s remarkable journey, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation with every new venture he embarks upon! From his Grammy-winning rap albums to his successful foray into fashion design and music festivals, it seems there’s nothing this multi-talented artist can’t do.

Six years following Tyler, the Creator’s lyrics, “Tim Chalamet, come find me,” the Grammy-winning artist is now set to share the screen with the “Dune” actor in A24’s production titled “Marty Supreme.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled about “Marty Supreme,” my first film role, directed by the talented Josh Safdie. Before this, I was a fashion designer and singer, best known for co-creating and starring in Adult Swim’s “Loiter Squad” with my fellow Odd Future members. Together, we also created the Adult Swim animated show “The Jellies!” and the Viceland docuseries “Nuts + Bolts.

Tyler is set to team up with Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow in the upcoming movie titled “Marty Supreme,” produced by A24. The story revolves around a professional ping pong player, but specific details about the plot remain confidential. In July, EbMaster revealed the project, and since then, A24 has shared an image of a table tennis ball with the phrase “coming soon.” The original script for “Marty Supreme” was penned by the Safdie brothers and Ronald Bronstein, who also serve as producers alongside Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, and Chalamet.

Stepping into the realm of full-length movies, Tyler, the Creator expands his impressive portfolio even further. Known as one of hip-hop’s most prominent figures, Tyler garnered a Grammy for Best Rap Album for two consecutive records: “Igor” in 2019 and “Call Me if You Get Lost” in 2021. In the year 2024, he graced the Coachella stage alongside Lana Del Rey and Doja Cat, and he also oversees his own music festival in Los Angeles, Camp Flog Gnaw. Through his lifestyle brands Golf Wang and Le Fleur, he’s teamed up with popular brands like Converse and Lacoste, and designed a capsule collection for Louis Vuitton.

Safdie, well-recognized for co-directing “Uncut Gems” and “Good Time” alongside his brother Benny Safdie, is now venturing into his first solo directorial project since 2008 with “Marty Supreme.” Lately, he has directed Adam Sandler’s most recent comedy special on Netflix, titled “Love You,” and is also collaborating with Sandler for another film that takes place in the realm of sports memorabilia and baseball.
