Tom Nichols, whose father Luke Nichols is a well-known YouTuber from ‘Outdoor Boys’, recently completed his first solo camping adventure, though he did get a bit of assistance from his dad.
A year ago, Luke Nichols stopped making videos for the Outdoor Boys channel to dedicate himself to a religious role in the Mormon Church, effectively ending his ten years as a content creator.
He hasn’t posted much since leaving, and his fans are eager for new content. While they wait, his son, Tom, is now continuing his work.
Outdoor Boys’ son Tom completes first ‘solo’ camping trip
Tom shared a video documenting his first time camping alone in the Alaskan wilderness. The video shows him building a shelter from fallen branches, making fires, and preparing his own meals.
The teenager was deep in the wilderness, and he knew it when he found a moose skeleton while searching for a place to camp.
Tom wasn’t completely on his own. His dad, Luke Nichols, was camping nearby, and they could talk to each other using walkie-talkies.
Luckily, he arrived just in time, because freezing rain started as Tom was building his shelter. Although this was Tom’s first trip on his own, his well-known father appeared in the video, which fans were happy to see after missing his usual content.
Tom managed to get through the cold, wet night mostly by himself. The next day, he and his father walked back to their car, and they both agreed it had been a tough first attempt at a solo trip.
Tom said he’s gained a lot of knowledge, but still needs more experience before he feels fully independent.
This video is Luke’s newest online appearance since a photo surfaced of him at a fishing shop in Japan. The picture spread quickly online, with fans noticing him posing with a shop employee. This reassured viewers that he continues to enjoy his hobbies even when he’s not active on social media.
