Star Wars Outlaws Players Advise Caution Over Using The Fast Travel Feature

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say, I find the recent discovery about the Fast Travel system in Star Wars Outlaws quite intriguing. It’s always fascinating to uncover hidden mechanics that make our gaming lives easier and more convenient, but I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia for the good old days when we had to traverse the game world on foot or mount.

Approximately four weeks have passed since Massive Entertainment launched their action-adventure game Star Wars Outlaws for consoles and computers, allowing players to delve once more into the Outer Rim. Given that there’s consistently fresh discoveries or thrills in repeat plays of this space odyssey, Scoundrels have stumbled upon a previously unnoticed detail about one in-game aspect.

In simpler terms, Star Wars Outlaws includes a Fast-Travel mechanism that enables the main characters Kay Vess and her cute sidekick, Nix, to swiftly move between locations once they’ve been unlocked. A popular Reddit post revealed an additional function of this Fast Travel system, but it does have its price.

In numerous games over time, the Fast Travel system has been prominently utilized, enabling players to swiftly (and securely) move between different teleport locations on a game’s World Map without needing real-time transportation. This functionality is also incorporated in Star Wars Outlaws, as Scoundrels learn about this feature upon reaching Mirogana City on planet Toshara. From thereon, they can search for various Fast Travel spots not only on Toshara but also across other planets as the narrative unfolds through their quests.

A Reddit post on the Star Wars Outlaws subreddit, made about a week back by user MapleSurpy, has been drawing interest from the community. In this post, they shared an exciting revelation from their recent travels: Characters classified as Scoundrels can use the Fast Travel system to move between different locations and planets on the map, without necessarily being in the pilot’s seat of their ship, the Trailblazer.

The user explains that if you zoom out on your map repeatedly until you reach the galaxy level, then zoom back in to select a specific planet and choose a fast travel point there, pressing the fast travel button will instantly transport you to that location. However, it’s worth noting that players can also quickly travel to their Speeder if it’s left in the open world; this option is available only if they have previously unlocked fast travel points for those locations.

Fellow space adventurers reacted to the Reddit post, expressing surprise at how handy this minor feature is, especially when in orbit (yes, it can be utilized in space while onboard the Trailblazer); some have noted that excessive usage might disrupt their immersion and enjoyment of the game. One explorer, specifically, shared concerns about overusing it, as players may miss out on enjoyable details if they haven’t noticed them during their current playthrough of Star Wars Outlaws.

“Public Service Announcement: If you skip this action, you’ll miss out on some entertaining banter, such as Nix nibbling on something and being reprimanded for it, according to Redditor Deminox. However, another Redditor noted that these events do repeat themselves in the game, so if you’ve experienced them once, there won’t be anything new you’ll miss out on if you encounter them again.
